Tours

Experience a knitting craft with 170 years of tradition and exceptional architecture.

Guided tours

The knitting mill regularly organizes guided tours with demonstrations of individual knitting operations and open days. The industrial environment of the knitting mill also hosts concerts and exhibitions for the public, both indoors and outdoors. A publication entitled "A přece se plete..." (And Yet It Knits...) has been published, charting the history and present of the knitting mill. We systematically care for this architecturally unique building, which is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Our goal is to popularize the craft and work of the knitting mill in the media and among the general public. We cooperate with the town of Krásná Lípa, OPS České Švýcarsko, the Czech Switzerland National Park, and, as part of cross-border cooperation, also with the Grossschönau Museum (Germany).

Guided tours for the public.

Are you curious? Are you interested in how knitted clothing made from merino wool and cashmere is created, as well as the ultra-fine and elegant ELITE stockings (1924–2024 = 100 years of the brand)? Discover the remarkable tradition of the textile industry in Krásná Lípa, which is still represented today by Schindler's knitting mill, the last functioning industrial knitting mill in the Czech Republic, founded in 1854. Here, the craft has been passed down from generation to generation without interruption for more than 170 years! What's more, it is housed in an architecturally unique building designed by Hans Richter, which ranks among the gems of functionalist architecture in our country and has retained its authentic appearance to this day. To participate in a tour of the knitting mill, it is necessary to make a reservation and pay the admission fee in advance. Thank you for your great interest in tours in 2025. The season is now over, and we look forward to seeing you again in the summer months of 2026.

We offer guided tours for schools and organized groups throughout the year by prior arrangement. Please do not hesitate to contact us by email at [email protected] or by phone at +420 739 009 665.
